ROSSO VERONA IGT “EL NANE”

Grapes used: Corvina and Corvinone 80%, Rondinella 20%

We vinify Rosso Verona El Nane using grapes, native to our vineyards, but only when we produce ‘excess quantities’ in respect to the amount required. In this case the classification of the grapes and the related wines can no longer be classified as DOC and becomes IGT. “El Nane” is therefore the result of a slight drying of carefully selected grapes, crushed and subsequently fermented at a controlled temperature. It is then aged for 24 months in 20 hectoliter new French oak barrels. It combines boldness and drinkability with an intense aroma of cherry and a long finish. Shelf life: 10-15 years. Serving temperature 18°C.

FROM THE TRADITIONS OF THE PAST,
A MEMORABLE WINE FOR THE PRESENT

The Verona Red “El Nane” was named in memory of my grandfather: “el Nane” (Giovanni). In the rural environment the making of wine has always been handed down from generation to generation as with my grandfather, until today. I recognize however, that I not only inherited from him the ability to make wine, but above all, the passion for the land and the tenacity which led me to give my life to my winery and its development to bring to your table my labelled wines. (Fabio Corsi)

“EL NANE”:
THE STORY OF A LIFE

My grandfather “Nane” lived his long life in Le Marognole and had a deep link with agriculture. Being a farmer, he always produced wine for the family. The wine for him, was a companion on the Sundays spent at the inn playing cards with friends, and in the evenings my father and uncles would have to go and pick him up to bring him home: Grandfather loved the company and didn’t notice how the time had passed. His overwhelming congeniality left a beautiful and lasting memory of my childhood. (Fabio Corsi).

Here's what you can serve with “El Nane”

The Verona Red "El Nane" is for us a wine with an "authentic" flavour, rich in tradition and familiarity. Full-bodied, it usually accompanies main courses, such as roasted and grilled meats. It is excellent served with mature cheeses and the great classics of Verona cuisine, for example such as Risotto with Tastasal, a traditional farmer’s dish.
